My Corvair Page

The Corvair is - in our opinion - the most important new car of the entire crop of '65 models, and the most beautiful car to appear in this country since before World War II.
Car and Driver, October 1964

This was perhaps the most sophisticated car ever to come from Detroit: gobs of power, world-class handling, and looks that simply couldn't be better.

They may be unsafe at some speed; I've only been to 170 mph.

This page is dedicated to the Chevrolet Corvair. I believe that its greatness, and perhaps its downfall, are due to it being 20 years ahead of its time. General Motors built 1.8 million Corvairs from 1960 to 1969. They offered unibody construction, four wheel independent suspension, small yet powerful fuel efficient engines (some with turbochargers), and outstanding handling and braking. Sounds more like something from the late 80's or 90's, doesn't it?

This is my 1964 Corvair Greenbrier Deluxe Van. I bought it several years ago and have been restoring it slowly. Click here to learn more about it.
Corvair enthusiasts enjoy an unusally rich support structure. The Corvair Society of America (CORSA) is a national organization with nearly 6000 members. There are over 100 local CORSA chapters in the USA, 2 in Canada, 1 in France, and 1 in Switzerland. There are parts vendors and repair shops across the country that specialize in the Corvair. Parts are plentiful and reasonably priced.
